The Walker Valley High School Baseball Camp will be held May 27-30, from 8-11 a.m. daily at the Bradley Country Industrial Park. The camp will provide fundamental skills instruction for ages 5-12. Cleveland State Baseball Coach Mike Policastro will conduct the following summer Baseball Camps: Youth Skills Camp, June 2-5 for ages 5-12. Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Campers will participate in group instruction and participate in a game each day. The cost for the camp is $75 and includes a camp T-shirt. Youth Pitcher/Catcher Camp, June 9-10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and a Youth Hitting Camp, June 11-12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Both camps will be for ages 8-16. The camps will consist of advanced instruction on the fundamentals of pitching, catching and hitting. The cost of the camps is $40 per session and includes a camp t-shirt. The Lee Flames baseball team will host baseball camps in June and July. A day camp for ages 5-15 will take place June 9-12 at Olympic Field from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost is $110 per camper. A sibling discount and team rates are available. An advanced hitting, pitching and catching camp for ages 8-17 will take place July 7-9 from 9 a.m.-noon for hitting and 1-3 p.m. for pitching or catching. The cost is $70 for the hitting camp and $55 for pitching or catching. The cost for both camps is $110 for both sessions. Cleveland State will host a series of summer baseball tournaments May 31-June 1 for 16-under teams (entry deadline May 9); June 6-8 for 18-under (entry deadline May 16); June 14-15 for 15-under teams (entry deadline May 23); June 21-22 for 14-under and 13-under teams (entry deadline May 30). The 15-under and 16-under tournaments will be three games of pool play and a championship. The cost for the tournaments is $350. The 18-under tournament will be four games of pool play and a championship. The cost for this tournament is $400. The 14-under and 13-under tournaments will be three games of pool play and a championship. The cost for this tournament is $300. Tournaments will be played under the Tennessee high school rules. Ocoee Middle School will hold sixth-grade girls and boys basketball tryouts May 22-23. Boys tryouts will be from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Girls tryouts will be from 1:30-3 p.m. Those trying out will need to bring proof of sports physical in order to participate. OMS will offer free sports physicals at OMS May 8 from 5-7 p.m. for those wanting to try out.


The Ocoee Middle Basketball Camp for ages five through eighth- grade will be held May 19-21 from 5-8 p.m. at OMS. The camp will be conducted by Joe Spencer along with OMS assistants. The cost for the camp is $45 with registration on the first day of camp. Campers will receive free T-shirts.


The Bradley Central High School Bearettes Basketball Camp will be held May 27-29 from 8:30 a.m. until noon each day. Open to ages 6-14, basic fundamental skills will be taught by Bearette coaches and players. T-shirts will be provided for each participant, as well as camped awards to be given out. The Bradley Central High School Boy's Basketball team will be hosting their 17th annual basketball camp. The camp will be June 2-4 from 8:30 a.m. until noon daily. The Lady Raiders Summer Basketball camp for rising first through eighth-grade girls will take place June 2-4 from 8:30 a.m.-noon at Cleveland Middle School. The camp is $50 per participant. Participants will receive individualized instruction and attention and campers will receive a certificate of completion and a camp T-shirt. The Colby Stansberry, "Heart of a Champion" 3 on 3 Basketball Challenge will be held June 7 at 9 a.m. at Cleveland Middle School. The Cleveland High Blue Raiders will host boys basketball camps featuring former Raider Vincent Yarbrough in June. The camp for 6-10 year-old boys will be held June 11-13, while the camp for 10-15 year-old boys will be on June 18-20. Both camps run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost to attend the elementary school camp is $55 ($85 brother rate) and $5 will be taken off if registered by May 22. The middle school camp will only take the first 25 sign-ups and the cost is $65 (brother rate $100) and $5 will be taken off if pre-registered by May 25. The Marty Rowe Skills & Drills Camp will be held June 24-28 at Lee University’s Walker Arena. The daily sessions will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., with early drop off, late pick up available. Friday the 28th the camp ends with awards ceremony at noon. Cost for the camp is $135, with those registering before May 15th able to attend for $125, which includes camp instruction, daily lunch, T-shirts, and prizes. Sibling discounts are available. Tennessee Christian Preparatory School will honor the late Jim Rush at the 16th Annual Golf Classic May 5 at Cleveland Country Club. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will served at noon with tee time at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $125 per person or $500 for a team of four, which includes green fee, cart and lunch. There will be awards for first, second, eighth and 12th place. Contests will include putting, longest drive and closest to the pin. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. The Cleveland Lady Raiders Golf Tournament to benefit the middle and high school Lady Raiders basketball teams will be held May 10 at Chatata valley Golf Club. Lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m. with a shotgun start at 2. Entry fee for the 2-person, select shot tournament is $50 per golfer. Prizes and gift bags will be awarded. There wil also be prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin on select holes. Sponsorships are available. The 6th annual Bradley Pigskin Open will be played at Chatata Valley Golf Club on May 18. The four-person scramble will have a 2 p.m. shotgun start with lunch served before hand. The $75 per person cost includes cart and green fees, lunch (from Shane’s Rib Shack), closest to the pin and longest drive contests, driving range time (12:30-1:30), a mulligan and one red tee, plus door prizes and goodie bags. The 21st annual Vietnam Veterans Golf Tournament will be held May 24 at Chatata Valley Golf Club. Registration begins at 11 a.m. with tee time set for 1 p.m. The cost for the 2-person, select shot tournament is $60 per golfer. Mulligans are available. Cleveland Country Club will host the Bradley County Junior Golf Clinic for golfers ages 5-17 on consecutive Mondays in June. The first clinic date is June 2 with remaining dates on June 9, 16, 23 and 30. Clinics for ages 5-10 will go from 8-9:30 a.m. and clinics for ages 11-17 will go from 9:45-11:15 a.m. There will be a final tournament on July 7. All tournament participants must have attended at least three of the five instructional dates to be eligible. Pre-registration will be held May 10-17 from 9 a.m.-noon in the Golf Shop at CCC. Registration for the Kay McDaniel Tennis Clinics is underway. Of the original 400 spots, only 50 remain open. Boys and girls ages 6-13 of any skill level are able to participate in the clinics for no cost. The clinics will run from June 2-6, with the girls’ clinics going from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and the boys’ clinics going from 10:30 to noon.



The Cleveland Aqua Tigers swim team will hold registration May 10 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and May 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Tinsley Pool. Online registration may be done at clevelandaquatigers.com. The Waterdogs summer swim team will be holding registration May 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Cleveland Family YMCA. New swimmers need to bring a swimsuit for an in-water coach’s evaluation. All practices will be held in morning sessions at the Cleveland Community Center. The Waterdogs are recreational swim team where children can learn competitive swimming and participate in swim meets. The Bradley Central volleyball Bearettes will hold tryouts for the fall season in June. Pre-tryout practices will be held June 2-4 from 6-8 p.m., while the tryouts themselves will be June 5-6 from 9 a.m. until noon at Jim Smiddy Arena.
