Franklyn LaVern “Frankie” Free Jr., 56, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 3, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklyn LaVern Free Sr.; his maternal grandparents, W.H. and Irene Rose; and his paternal grandparents, Bill and Inez Free.
He was a welder most of his life and he owned and operated Ace Welding, Fabrication and Repair. He loved riding motorcycles and would compete in motocross racing with dirt bikes. He loved the outdoors including trout fishing. He was a member of the Cloverleaf Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Free of LaFayette, Ga.; son, Justin Free and his wife, Jessica, of Benton; grandchildren: Landen Free and Barrett Free, both of Benton, Rance Saldana and River Saldana, both of LaFayette, Ga.; mother, Evelyn Rose Free of Cleveland; sister, Sabrina Free of Chattanooga; nephews: Zane Holcomb and Greyson Free; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the Cloverleaf Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Moore officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mountain Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 this evening at the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes.
