A benefit ride for Katie Barkley, the 2-year-old who was injured in an auto accident in McDonald, will be held May 24. Registration will be at 9 a.m. at the Village Green parking lot and kickstands go up at 10 a.m. Show your support by “Riding for Katie.” Entry fee is $20 per bike and $10 for additional riders. Participants will receive a T-shirt, ticket for door prizes and food. From the parking lot riders will travel to Farmland Community Chapel. Katie suffers from a damaged spinal cord, broken cervical 1 and 2, broken collarbone and shoulder/arm. Katie is now in Baltimore for rehabilitation at the Kennedy Krieger Institute with her mother Katelynn. According to her mother, Katie has made tremendous progress and continues to improve daily.
