Howard E. Allmon, 81, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, went to be at home with his Heavenly Father on Sunday night, May 25, 2014, from his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Athens, on Jan. 16, 1933, a son of the late John Henry Dewey and Martha Ellen Allmon.

He was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving his country. He was retired from Combustion Engineering of Chattanooga and was member of the local Boilermaker’s Union. He attended the Family Worship Center of Cleveland. He above all loved his family and cherished spending time with them.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Beatrice Marshall and Thelma Gates; and three brothers: Herman, Charles and Robert “Bobby” Allmon.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Nancy Denton Allmon; six children: Steven Allmon of Etowah, Gary Allmon and wife, Pat, Susan Allmon Ramsey and husband, Joe, Kelley Allmon, Tim Allmon and wife, Kim, and Jennifer Cansler, all of Cleveland; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.

A celebration of his life is planned for Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Family Worship Center located, 4271 Dalton Pike S.E. at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Isaac Walker officiating

Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Matt Allmon, Mark Allmon, Andrew Allmon, James Allmon, Michael Waldroup, Harold Jones, Alexander Cahoon and Will Tilley serving as pallbearers. The service will conclude with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
