The Summer Reading Program party kicks off June 7, from noon until 5 p.m. Celebrate a summer of reading fun with shelter pets, science experiments, face painting, visiting mascots, games, treats and a story lab on the Lee University Park across from the library on Eighth Street.

Sign up for all our summer reading activities by visiting our website or stopping by the Children’s Library Desk at the library. Some of the programs have limited spaces, so you should consider signing up as early as possible. You don’t have to sign up for the party, just show up!

Our Scholastic Book Fair continues until Tuesday in the Children’s Library. At the Book Fair you will find the latest and finest titles for kids, as well as a few books of interest to parents. The Book Fair is a great way to get everyone excited about reading and to keep reading throughout the summer. Books make great gifts, too.

The 2nd Sundays @ 2 p.m. program on June 8 will be “Elements of Growing Herbs” with U.T. Extension Agent Robin Ramsey. This program will give you the lowdown on growing and maintaining herbs in your garden. Join us at 2 p.m. in the Community Room.

Don’t forget to stop by and pick up your summer beach reads here. We have a large selection of bestsellers, books on tape and e-books available for free downloading. If you need help signing on with your e-reader just call the library today and set up an appointment to get your e-reader set up with the website.
