H. Janice Pennington Gray, born Sept. 9, 1928, passed peacefully at her home in Chattanooga, on Sunday, May 25, 2014.

She had been a longtime resident of Chattanooga after moving from Little Rock, Ark. She lived the last several years at the Continental Condominiums.

She attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Ark. She was named the Football Queen for 1948.

She is survived by her three children: Kenneth J. Gray (Dina) of Chattanooga, Randall S. Gray (Laurie) of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Pamela McAllester (Bill) of Lookout Mountain; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Pennington Noble of Lampassas, Texas; and brother, John Gilbert Pennington of Temple, Texas.

She will be placed next to her father, Gilbert R. Pennington and mother, Rena Hicks Pennington at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle, Ark. The service will be performed by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle, Ark. on June, 21, 2014 at 10 a.m. CST.
