Bobby Massengale, 71, a resident of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home.
He was born on June 22, 1942, a son of the late Katherine Ridge Massengale.
He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Community Baptist Church in Apison.
He was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Air Force after faithfully serving his country. He was a sheet metal fabricator for the majority of his life and received his 40-Year Award from the Sheet Metal Union just recently. He was most of all a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Chadwick Massengale.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara Elliott Massengale; father, Ray Massengale Sr. of McDonald; daughter, Brenda Cagle and her husband, Steve, of Chattanooga; stepdaughter, Lisa Smith of Fort Oglethorpe; and stepson, Wally Smith and wife, Pam, of Fort Oglethorpe; granddaughter, Christina Lynn Queen of McDonald; four brothers: James Massengale (Marsha), Kenneth Massengale (Nellie), Ronnie Massengale (Jewel) and Ray Massengale Jr. (Shelia); several stepgrandchildren; and great-grandchildren; several other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Community Baptist Church, 11718 McGhee Road, Apison, with the Rev. Fletcher Farris officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service time.
