Cleveland State Baseball Coach Mike Policastro will conduct the following summer Baseball Camps: Youth Pitcher/Catcher Camp, June 9-10 from 9 a.m. to noon, and a Youth Hitting Camp, June 11-12 from 9 a.m. to noon. Both camps will be for ages 8-16. The camps will consist of advanced instruction on the fundamentals of pitching, catching and hitting. The cost of the camps is $40 per session and includes a camp t-shirt. There will be a $5 discount per camp registration if a participant registers for more than one of the camps. The Lee Flames baseball team will host baseball camps in June and July. A day camp for ages 5-15 will take place June 9-12 at Olympic Field from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost is $110 per camper. A sibling discount and team rates are available. An advanced hitting, pitching and catching camp for ages 8-17 will take place July 7-9 from 9 a.m.-noon for hitting and 1-3 p.m. for pitching or catching. The cost is $70 for the hitting camp and $55 for pitching or catching. The cost for both camps is $110 for both sessions. The 2014 Bradley Baseball Camp will be held June 10-12 from 9 a.m.-noon. The cost for the camp will be $60 and will be for boy's ages 5-12. Lee University is hosting its summer Prospect Camp for 2015-18 high school graduates on July 1-2 (3 sessions). The camp will be worked by the Lee staff as well as coaches from the following institutions: University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay and Kennesaw State. Additionally, coaches from other colleges and universities will be in attendance at the camp. Camp registration and information can be accessed at www.leeflamesbaseballcamps.com. Registration will be accepted through June 26th, but spots are limited.



The Polk County Basketball Camp will be June 9-12 with daily sessions running from 9 a.m. until noon. The camp will be held at the Polk County High School gym and is open to boys and girls from Pre-K through 12th grade. The cost is $40 per camper. The Cleveland High Blue Raiders will host boys basketball camps featuring former Raider Vincent Yarbrough in June. The camp for 6-10 year-old boys will be held June 11-13, while the camp for 10-15 year-old boys will be on June 18-20. Both camps run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost to attend the elementary school camp is $55 ($85 brother rate). The Marty Rowe Skills & Drills Camp will be held June 24-28 at Lee University’s Walker Arena. The daily sessions will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., with early drop off, late pick up available. Friday the 28th the camp ends with awards ceremony at noon. Cost for the camp is $135, with those registering before May 15th able to attend for $125, which includes camp instruction, daily lunch, T-shirts, and prizes. Sibling discounts are available. Lee University men’s basketball coach Tommy Brown is offering his Lee University Boys Basketball Academy this year on two separate weeks, for ages 5-16 on July 7-11 and July 21-25 from 9-4 p.m. (Fridays end at noon). The camp’s skilled staff includes former players, current players and coaches. Campers will be instructed in ball handling, shooting, dribbling, defense and rebounding. The 14th annual Camp of Champions for boys in grades 4-8 will be held July 14-17 at the Cleveland High School Football facilities from 9 a.m-noon. The cost is $60 per camper, and each participant will eceive a free T-shirt and be eligible for awards. Campers will receive instruction from both CHS and CMS football coaching staffs as well as former Blue Raider players. The Dustin Ledford Scholarship Foundation will be holding a 4-man select shot golf tournament at Chatata Valley Golf Course on June 21, beginning at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $50 per person, and mulligans can be purchased the day of the tournament. All participants will receive a T-shirt and water bottle, as well as breakfast from Chick-Fil-a, lunch from Shane’s Rib Shack, and coffee supplied by Starbucks. Cleveland Country Club will host the Bradley County Junior Golf Clinic for golfers ages 5-17 on consecutive Mondays in June. The first clinic date is June 2 with remaining dates on June 9, 16, 23 and 30. Clinics for ages 5-10 will go from 8-9:30 a.m. and clinics for ages 11-17 will go from 9:45-11:15 a.m. There will be a final tournament on July 7. The Greater Cleveland Soccer Association select soccer team tryouts will be held June 14. Tryouts for U9, U10, U11, U12, and U18 will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m., while U13, 14, U15, U16, and U17 will tryout from 6-8 p.m. Players should arrive at least 15 minutes early, bring a ball, proper soccer attire and water. The Summer Soccer Camp for first through eighth grades will take place June 9-12 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Greater Cleveland Soccer Complex. The camp will be run by Cleveland High School coaches Andy Byrd, John Brose and Cleveland Middle coach Luke Medema. The cost for the camp is $75. Campers will receive individualized instruction and learn basic fundamentals, passing, shooting ball handling and defensive skills.


Registration is open for the third annual Lee Soccer Camp June 23–27. The camp is designed for boys and girls ages 5-14 and will focus on ball skills and the technical development of young players in a fun and friendly environment. Lee men’s head soccer coach Paul Furey will serve as director of the camp. The camp coaching staff will be comprised of his assistant coaches and top players to ensure an enjoyable and educating soccer experience. The Greater Cleveland Soccer Association is partnering with Challenger Sports to provide quality soccer camps for all ages this summer. Lee University will offer its annual Summer Skills Softball Camp for ages 5-13 June 9-12 on the campus of Lee University. Coach Emily Russell, her coaching staff, and players will serve as instructors. Special team rates are available. The camp will offer a chance for players to develop their game by working on fundamental skills incorporated with live game activities. Each camper will receive camp T-shirt. Walk up registration will be available if space is available. Campers should bring cleats, tennis shoes, glove, batting gloves, and other softball equipment. The Walker Valley Lady Mustangs Softball Camp will be held June 16-18 at Larry Haney Field on the campus of Walker Valley High School. Sessions will run daily from 9 a.m.-noon for upcoming 2nd-5th graders and from 1-4 p.m. for upcoming 6th-8th graders. Fundamental hitting, pitching, fielding, and catching instruction will be taught by Walker Valley coaches and Lady Mustang players. The cost of the camp is $50 and includes a free T-shirt. Cleveland State Softball Coach Katie Willingham will conduct a Youth Skills Camp, June 16-18 for ages 5-14. Camp hours will be 9 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Campers will participate in group instruction and fundamental drills. Campers will be divided by age and ability during games and group activities. The cost for the camp is $55 and includes a camp T-shirt. A discount will be given for siblings or teams with five or more participants. Lee is offering two 1-day prospect camps July 9-10 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The camps may be attended separately or together. The camps are for 2014-2019 graduates as well as junior college students. Space is limited and early registration is highly recommended to ensure a spot. The morning session will feature skill instruction from college coaches and players as well as a combine style skills assessment. Cleveland Country Club summer will sponsor tennis clinics for juniors throughout the summer. High school and middle school clinics will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8-9:30 a.m. Middle school clinics will go from 9:45-11:15 a.m. Beginners will meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings with ages 5-7 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.; ages 8-10 9:45-10:45 a.m.; and ages 11 and older 10:45-11:45 a.m. For more information, contact Tony Cavett at 902-5751.



The Cleveland High School 2014 Volleyball camp will take place June 16-18 from 4-7 p.m. at Cleveland Middle School. The cost for the camp is $40 for early registration and $50 that day of the camp. The camp will cover fundamentals, skill stations on serving, passing, setting and hitting. Campers will receive free T-shirt. For the second straight summer, a Beginner’s Wrestling Camp will be held June 16-17 at Bradley Central High School. Former coaches Steve Logsdon and Turner Jackson will work with beginning wrestlers ages 4-8. The sessions will run from 6-7:30 p.m. in the school’s gym at a cost of $20 per participant.
