He has served a pastor at St. Elmo since 2005.
Saddler, who accepted Christ at an early age, was called into the ministry in 1978 at the Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Richards as pastor.
Saddler later served as assistant pastor at Olivet Baptist. He complected seminary at the American Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as assistant pastor at Olivet for five years and pastored 10 years at Marble Top Baptist Church in Kensington, Ga.
Saddler was an “original employee” — he was there when the hospital opened in 1967 — at Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute. He served in various capacities for more than 35 years at the hospital.
He attended Beaumont State College, McKenzie College and served in the U.S. Army.
He married Mary Kathryn in 1965.
The morning service Sunday will be presided over by Dr. Richard Brown. The service will begin at noon.
Among those participating in the afternoon service will be Mount Zion AME Zion Church in Louisville, Tenn., with a sermon by the Rev. Larry Woods.
After dinner at St. Elmo School Hall, the afternoon service will begin at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Vincent Dixon, Pastor Kevin Adams of Olivet Baptist Church in Chattanooga. The Olivet Baptist Church Choir will be presenting a selection.
The Rev. Dixon will be also give the evening message.
Presentations to Saddler will be made at the conclusion of the service.
