ANDREA TATUM, left, a 2014 graduate of Polk County High School, was selected to receive the National Beta Club's Harris Service Award by the national office in Spartanburg, S.C., for 2013-14. She won for outstanding service to the club and surrounding community. She served as the club's president and participated in numerous service projects, including volunteer work with the McMinn Memorial and Etowah Health Care Center nursing homes; the Empty Stocking Fund, which helps to purchase gifts for underprivileged families at Christmas; club fundraising programs; food drives for the Benton Food Bank; and the design and construction of handicapped-accessible flower, fruit and vegetable planters for the McMinn Memorial nursing home. Tatum is the daughter of Becci Dixon Tatum.
