Onie Rymer Miller, 92, of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Atlanta, Ga.
She was a native of Polk County, where she was raised in Old Fort and graduated from Polk County High School in 1939.
She went on to further her education at Lincoln Memorial University. After school she worked in Cleveland, and married W.J. “Buddy” Miller in 1941. They lived in Cleveland before moving to Miami, Fla. in 1946. Between 1948 and 1964 they lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. They then moved to Delray Beach, Fla., where they owned Miller Moving & Storage Co. After retirement in the 1980’s, she spent summers in her home in Highlands, N.C. and winters in Florida before living in Atlanta for the past five years.
She was the daughter of Albert and “Todd” Rymer, and the sister of Frank Rymer, Sue Reed, Elizabeth Blair, Mary Dougherty, John Rymer and Bob Rymer. Her husband, “Buddy,” of 62 years, preceded her death in 2003.
She is survived by four children: Janice Ross of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Will Miller of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Nancy Powell of Atlanta and Fred Miller of Buford, Ga.; seven grandchildren: Dave Ross Jr., John Ross, Jennifer Ross Kendall, Taryn Miller Galvin, Laura Miller Reed, Jonathan Miller, and Charles Miller; several great-grandchildren: Kyra Galvin, MacKenzie Kendall, Kinsley Galvin, Kayla Kendall, Karsyn “Onie” Galvin and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Polk County today June 20, 2014, during a “Rymer Family Reunion.” Her ashes will be buried Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Benton Memorial Cemetery in Benton.
