First District commissioner Terry Caywood is scheduled to undergo quadruple bypass surgery today at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.

According to Louie Alford, Bradley County Commission chairman, Caywood became ill shortly after the conclusion of Monday night’s meeting and was taken to the hospital where the decision to proceed with the surgery was made.

Commissioners were informed of Caywood’s surgery during the day Tuesday by the county mayor’s office.

“We certainly want to wish Terry all the best for a speedy recovery, and ask all Bradley County citizens to join in prayer for Terry and his family,” Alford said.

Bradley County Mayor D. Gary Davis, speaking on behalf of all county offices, department heads and employees, joined Alford in offering his prayers and best wishes to Caywood and his family.

The Cleveland Daily Banner will make every attempt to keep readers apprised of Caywood’s condition during his recovery.

Caywood was originally elected to the Commission in 2010 and was re-elected for a second term in May’s Bradley County Primary. He faces no opposition in the general election in August.
