Donald Allen Hudson, 58, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on Oct. 6, 1955, a son of the late William Allen Hudson.
He graduated from Tennessee Tech with a degree in journalism. He was employed with the Cleveland Daily Banner and several area convenience stores during his work career. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his stepfather Nelson Rogers; maternal grandmother, Hazel Knight; and paternal grandmother, Ada Hudson.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Barbara Rogers; one sister, LaVonda Hysinger and her husband, Gary, all of Cleveland; one stepsister, Teresa Rogers of Atlanta, Ga.; niece, Amy Burgess (Andy) of Ocoee; nephew, Tanner Hysinger (Mindy) of Cleveland; two great-nieces; several other extended family members; and a host of special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 1275 Stuart Road N.E., in Cleveland with the Rev. Charles DeFriese officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight at the church from 5 until 7 and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church library or building fund in Allen’s memory.
