Cleveland Police detectives are searching for answers in a shooting which reportedly happened just before midnight Monday.

The shooting victim was transported to Erlanger Medical Center with what was believed to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.

According to officer Evie West, officers responded to 3470 Freewill Road and found a white male, later identified as Bradley Kowal, lying in the driveway.

Cleveland Police worked on the investigation throughout the night, eventually identifying the suspect as Garrett Hooper.

Hooper was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, possession of Schedule VI drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Lt. Robert Harbison of CPD’s Criminal Investigations Division, Kowal was reportedly struck by a bullet from a 9-mm weapon.

He said investigators have not yet had the opportunity to establish a motive for the shooting. They plan to talk to Kowal today.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Kowal was listed in stable condition, according to West.
