James Allen Koon, 83, died on Friday, June 27, 2014, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
The Ware Shoals, S.C., native was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War as a first lieutenant.
He was a 1952 graduate of Clemson University with a degree in industrial engineering.
He worked for Burlington and BGF for over 35 years in different areas of the country, including South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee before retiring in 1991. He was a quality control engineer and was recognized for his work in statistical quality control.
He loved playing golf and enjoyed spending time with the 10:30 R.J.’s Coffee Club.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Kathleen Arganbright Koon of Statesboro, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Ron Hillman of Oak Ridge; two sons and daughters-in-law: Lee and Sharron Koon of Cleveland, and Phillip Koon and Kristen Lindelow of Huntsville, Ala.; a sister, Jeannette Davis of Deltona, Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held on Monday, June 30, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
