An organizational meeting for Friends of the Greenway will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library Carmichael Room. To become a member and attend the meeting, at least a $25 donation is requested. Prior to the meeting, donations may be paid in person at Cleveland/Bradley County Chamber of Commerce or mailed to Friends of the Greenway, P.O. Box 2730, Cleveland TN 37311.

Americorps Vista (Volunteers in Service to America) at Family Promise of Bradley County is holding an educational program to raise awareness in the community about poverty and homelessness. The event will be at the Cleveland YMCA on Tuesday nights at 6 p.m., through July 22.

AT THE LIBRARY:

— An Adult Book Club for ages 18 and older meets the third Wednesday of each month, at 2 p.m. in the Carmichael House Conference Room.

— Local author and “Chicken Soup for the Soul” contributor Delena Richeson will speak about her writing at the library’s “2nd Sunday’s@2p.m.” on July 13 in the Community Room. Her story, “A Divine Goodbye,” is one of 101 stories in the book about a range of spiritual experiences from miraculous connections, answered prayer, divine intervention and inexplicable healing to angels and messages from heaven — proving miracles happen every day to people from all walks of life.

— A Father-Son Breakfast will be held in the Community Room on July 26, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. To sign up, stop by the Children’s Desk, call 472-2163 or go online.

— National Teen Lock-In will be held at the library from 7 p.m. on Aug. 1 until 7 a.m. on Aug. 2. This event is limited to 35 teens and a mandatory parent/teen meeting is required to attend. FITNESS CLASSES:

— TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) local chapter meets every Monday at Wesleyan Methodist Church on Peerless Road. Private weigh-ins are from 5 to 5:30 p.m.; meeting is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. A TOPS category for children ages 7-18 is available. For more information, call 472-9628 or 593-4727.
