Mary Ruth Daugherty, 90, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, July 5, 2014, in a local health care facility.
She was a member of Chilcutt United Methodist Church, a former member of Benton Home Demonstration Club (FCE) having been a member for many years and was well known for her ability as a quilt maker. She also served Bradley Memorial Hospital as a gray lady for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pledger and Betty Shoemaker Hunt; her husband, John K. Daugherty; two brothers: Kenneth and Clarence Hunt; and grandson, Joshua Sherrill.
Survivors include two sons: Thomas Lee Daugherty and wife, Terri, of Tullahoma and John M. Daugherty of Charleston; five grandchildren: Jennifer Zimecki and husband, David, Jason Smith and wife, Karen, Julia Daugherty, Jesse Daugherty and Joy Daugherty; great-grandchildren: Nicolais and Logan Zimecki and Walker Smith; one sister, JoAnn Hunt Park and husband, Charles, of Benton Station; one brother, Jerry Hunt and wife, Queta, of Benton Station; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with Danny Arp officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Herman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
