Everett Jenkins, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in a Chattanooga health care facility.
He was the son of the late Hettie Keenum Jenkins and Winslow Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jenkins; his son, Ronald Jenkins; his sister, Thelma Garland; and his brothers: Winfred, Hoyt, Hubert, David, Elmer, D. W. and James Jenkins.
He and his wife Betty were residents of Murphy, N.C. more than 60 years before moving to Cleveland.
He was a graduate of Murphy, N.C. High School and was employed with the Tennessee Copper Company with more than 20 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He loved to tinker with lawnmowers, cars and he loved to build things.
He was a member of the McCaysville, Ga. First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Diane J. Boyd and her husband, Jon, of Lake Elmo, Minn.; his grandchildren: Eron Jenkins of Baton Rouge, La., and Nicholas Jenkins, a student at the University of Georgia; his daughter-in-law, Darlene Jenkins of Ringgold, Ga.; his brother, Ken Jenkins and his wife, Nell, of Atlanta, Ga.; his sister-in-law, Anna Josephine Dagenais of Cleveland and several nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life service will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 1 p.m. from the McCaysville, Ga. First Baptist Church with Pastor Matthew McDaniels officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. Thursday at the McCaysville First Baptist Church.
The Wildwood Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes has charge of the arrangements.
