According to reports, the crash occurred at Gold Star Drive just after 7 this morning.
“When Bradley County Emergency Medical Service paramedics arrived on the scene, they found a car that had crashed into the trailer of a semi-rig,” said Stan Clark, information officer for BCEMS.
“The male driver of the car realized in time that he was going to crash and was able to lay over in his seat. The car went underneath the 18-wheeler and crushed the roof of the car almost flat. His quick thinking saved his life,” Clark said.
Cleveland Fire Department officials arrived on the scene near the same time BCEMS units arrived.
Both agencies reported the driver had gotten out of the car and was walking around.
“We have responded to accidents similar to this one in the past that did not turn out so well,” Clark said.
The driver of the 18- wheeler was not injured.
According to Clark, the driver of the passenger vehicle was assessed at the scene and treated for minor injuries and released.
