Two small quakes were reported in the area by the United States Geological Service during the weekend.

The first occurred in Etowah early Saturday morning.

Just after midnight, USGS seismometers recorded a tremor centered in Etowah, 23 miles northeast of Cleveland.

The small quake registered 1.8 on the Richter Scale, according to USGS.

On Sunday, a 1.9 tremor was recorded just four miles east of Pikeville.

That small quake was reported at 5:15 p.m.

- A Brookcrest Drive resident was arrested at a Benton Pike residence after Bradley County deputies received a call to investigate someone taking property.

According to a report filed by Dep. Darren Miller of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, he was dispatched to the home of Rothell Forgey.

After arriving, Miller noted a woman carrying plants from the front of the home.

The suspect was identified as Donna Cain, 56.

Forgey was contacted by phone, then told the deputy she had not given anyone permission to be on her property or remove any items from her yard.

Cain was arrested and taken to the Bradley County Jail where she was charged with theft under $500.
