Jack Boyd Maynor Jr., 59, a lifelong resident of Benton Station, passed away suddenly Friday, Aug. 8, 2014.
He was born Sept. 3, 1954, to Helen Marie Dixon Maynor and the late Jack B. Maynor Sr.
He retired after more than 35 years with Bowater, and was working for Averitt Trucking of Chattanooga at the time of his death.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was a family man and the loving and loyal husband of Margaret Rouse Maynor; he was the loving father to Jackie Marie (Maynor) Lewis (Shawn), Travis Jack Maynor (Kelly), and Elizabeth Ann Jones; he was a very proud “Papaw” to Madison Marie Maynor, Ethan Shawn Lewis, James Daniel Lewis, Shelby Naamah Maynor and Colby Bryson Maynor; godfather to Bryan Killian and adopted “Papaw” to Emily Sue Adams. He was devoted to his mother and loved her very much; he was the oldest sibling of Sandra Leigh Maynor and Daniel Dixon Maynor.
He truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends; he was an avid Tennessee fan, and his favorite activities other than Tennessee football and following NASCAR racing included hunting, fishing, golfing and motorcycle riding.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at 2 p.m., at Benton Station Baptist Church.
The services will be held by Pastor Joel Jenkins, Assistant Pastor Steve Ross and Bryan Killian.
The family will receive friends at Benton Station Baptist Church, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in Jack’s name to Benton Station Baptist Church cemetery fund.
