Voting heavy at start of day

Polls opened promptly at 8 this morning and primary elections for county mayor, sheriff and other offices got under way. Polls will close at 8 p.m. and votes will be tallied. According to officials at the Bradley County Election Office, traffic was heavy at the start of the day, especially in the 4th District at Oak Grove Elementary School. Officials at Walker Valley High School reported a steady flow of voters in the Bradley County Primary. “We are up and running and everything is going smoothly so far,” said Mimi Angel, deputy registrar at the Bradley County Election Office.

Voting precincts for this Bradley County Primary are McDonald Ruritan Club, Hopewell Elementary School, Walker Valley High School, the Bradley County Senior Center, Michigan Avenue Elementary School, Community Services, Black Fox Elementary School, Cleveland High School, Stuart Elementary School, Waterville Community School, Valley View Elementary School, Blythe-Bower Elementary School, Oak Grove Elementary School, E.L. Ross, Prospect Elementary School, Blue Springs Elementary and Lee University. Officials with Bradley County Election Office should be tabulating votes within minutes of the polls’ closing.

Posts on the Bradley County Commission, county mayor, constables, sheriff, register of deeds and other offices will either be determined in today’s voting or during the Aug. 5 State Primary and Bradley County General Election. Election results will be posted on the Bradley County Election Commission Web site at www.bradleyelections.com. Voters can also keep up-to-date posts regarding elections results Tuesday by visiting the Web site and, clicking on Twitter to link and follow via cell phone or personal computer.
