Cleveland High graduation slated May 21

Cleveland High School will hold its graduation ceremony May 21 at the Benny Monroe stadium.The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to First Baptist Church.There will be 264 students graduating with the CHS Class of 2010. One hundred thirty-eight students will graduate with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Fifty-two students will graduate as a Tennessee Scholar; 72, as an honor graduate; and 48, as a Raider Scholar.The CHS Class of 2010 has four honor students.

Will Ramsey is the son of Jennifer Ramsey and Larry Ramsey. He is president of the HOSA Club and an officer in the Interact and Anchor Club. He was voted “Most Creative” by his senior class. Ramsey is a delegate to Boy’s State and attended the state-level Biomedical Debate Competition in Nashville. He will attend the University of Tennessee/Knoxville in the fall. Ramsey plans to major in mathematics.

Matt Huff is the son of Jeff and Kellye Huff. He is president of the student body. He is captain of the Cleveland High swim team and placed as a finalist in the recent regional competition. He was voted “Mr. CHS” by his senior class. Huff will attend the University of Tennessee/Knoxville in the fall. He plans to major in pre-dental.Emily Johnson is the daughter of Rebble and Laurie Johnson. She is an International Honor Thespian and president of the CHS Thespians. She is a member of the Beta and Anchor clubs. She has received academic honors from her class. Johnson is a volunteer at the Tennesee Aquarium. She has received a scholarship from Samford University where she will attend in the fall. She plans to major in biology and minor in theatre.

Trevor Jonas Wilson is the son of Jenny and James Carpenter. He is a recipient of the Hope Scholarship and was voted “Most Outspoken” by his senior class. He will attend the University of Tennessee/Knoxville in the fall. He plans to study Biosystems engineering.
