Singleton takes over as CMS boys head coach

Cleveland Middle School has announced the hiring of Carlo Singleton as the new head boys basketball coach. Singleton takes over for Randy Evans who is pursuing coaching in the college ranks. Coach Singleton hopes to continue the great tradition of winning at CMS.

Carlo is married to Margaret Singleton from Gainesville, Fla. They have four boys, Christian (10), Cobe (7), Malachi (5) and Marcus (7 months). Singleton graduated from Lee University in 2002 and was a member of the Flames basketball team from 2000-2002. He was an All-American in 2001 and All-Conference 2001-02. He also starred at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville. Fla., in 1999. The former Flame graduated from Campbell High School in Atlanta, Ga., and was All-state in ’97 and All-county in ’96 and ’97. Coach Singleton started his coaching career at Wheeler High School in Marietta. Ga., and coached from 2003-05. He then coached at Ocoee Middle from 2006-08 then moved to Cleveland High School from 2008-10 as an assistant for head coach Jason McCowan.

Athletic Director Scott Carroll said, “Carlo will be a great asset to our coaching staff. He comes to us with a great basketball background and great people skills. He will be able to keep moving our program forward to be one of the top programs in the state. Carlo is a great motivator and the athletes will love his enthusiasm and knowledge of the sport. We are lucky to have him as part of our staff.”
