The BCEA discussed topics which included basic agreement provisions and employment conditions.
With the recent “Race to the Top” grant and the “Tennessee First to the Top Act” the board of education and BCEA discussed new items this year which included transition benefits, achievement school district and loss of position and recall.
The BCEA also proposed one hour planning time daily for elementary school teachers, replacement supplies for new technologies, a teacher to serve as board advisor and teachers to not be required to attend non-essential in-service education activities when teachers have accumulated the state required in-service hours.
The next negotiation meeting will be on June 14, at 4:30 p.m. at the Board of Education central office. All meetings are open to the public and teachers are encouraged to attend.
