Gospel Explosion 2010 will kick off at 1 p.m. with a Unity Parade beginning at Northeast Recreation Center. Walkers are asked to wear a white shirt in a display of unity as they march to Mosby Park where the event will begin with prayer led by evangelist Tona Williams.
Gospel Explosion offers something for the entire family including free food, air toys, prizes and much more. Visitors should register upon arrival to receive a wristband, which serves as a meal and drink ticket, and qualifies the wearer to door prizes given away throughout the day.
The stage lineup for Gospel Explosion 2010 will feature the area’s best in gospel song and dance. Featured artists are: Surinity, Spiritual Highlights, Eric Terry, All Nations Worship Center, Prayer Center Youth Choir, Michael Whaley Jr., Rock Island Dance Team, Obi One, The Johnson Family, Brian Allen, Saint James CPCA Mass Choir, Jermaine Purifory, Church of God Sanctified Children’s Choir, Adrian Kirkpatrick, Fellowship of Praise Church of God dance team, Kim Lawrence, Gerald Benton, Christian Fellowship Center, D.E.S.T.I.N.Y. Community Fellowship, and Wildwood Church of God in Christ.
Special guest is Samuel “Joey” Alleyne of Los Angeles, Calif., a professional mime artist and movement specialist. He has traveled to Africa, Europe, Asia, Caribbean, and throughout the United States developing dance workshops, conferences, and productions. He has appearanced in the McDonald's Gospel Fest at the Shrine Auditorium.
He was a conference speaker and teacher at ASAPH Bahamas with Dr. Myles Munroe, Richard Smallwood, CeCe Winans, and Ron Kenoly. Samuel’s students under his tutelage have appeared on the BET Celebration of Gospel with Smokie Norful, Kirk Franklin, Heather Headley, LL Cool J, Trinitee 5:7, and Steve Harvey. He was also choreographer for Mary Mary and 21:03.
Gospel Explosion 2010 will conclude with Cleveland’s version of “We Are the World,” originally written by Michael Jackson in 1985 to raise money for Africa. The local version, under the direction of Demetrius Ramsey and Martha Kalombo, is not to raise money but to raise awareness “For Such a Time as This.” Twenty-five artists will render a section of the song in their style to music compiled by Mike Kalombo.
