LEE BASEBALL SCHOOL
The annual Lee University Baseball School sessions will be held on June 7-11 and July 5-7 at Olympic Field. The June 7-11 date will consist of a day camp that lasts from 9 a.m. until noon. It will be for ages 5-15. The cost will be $80 for an individual and $140 for two brothers. You may call 614-8638 for special team rates. The advanced hitting and pitching camp is slated for July 5-7 and is for ages 8-17. The hitting sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon. The pitching sessions will start at 1 p.m. and wrap up at 3 p.m. The cost will be $55 for hitting and $45 for pitching. Youngsters can attend both sessions for $90. POLK CAMP
The Polk County Baseball Camp for players ages 7 through 13 will be held May 31 - June 3 at the PCHS baseball field. The cost for the camp is $35. The fee includes supplemental insurance, player awards and T-shirts. The camp will be conducted by Wildcats’ coaches Bill Triplett and Michael Carter along with current Polk players. BRADLEY CENTRAL BASEBALL CAMP
The Bradley Baseball Camp will be held June 1-4 at the McKenzie Baseball Complex. The a daily session from 9 a.m. until noon will be held for players in grades 1-8. Cost is $50 with a $10 discount for families with to or more players involved. Registration will be held May 31 before the camp begins or pre-registration can be done by calling the school at 476-0650.
BASEBALL EXCELLENCE CAMP
The eighth annual Lake Forest “Week of Baseball Excellence” camp will be held from 9 a.m. until noon the weeks of May 31- June 4 and June 7-11 at Lake Forest Middle School. Athletes ages 5 through 15 are encouraged to attend. Baseball fundamentals will be taught in a relaxed and fun environment. Local high school and college players will serve as speakers and instructors throughout the week. The cost of the camp is $50, $75 for both weeks, and includes a camp T-shirt and a fundamental drill notebook. Concessions will be available. WALKER VALLEY BASEBALL CAMP
The annual Walker Valley Baseball Camp will be held June 1-4 at the Whitlock Complex at the Bradley County Recreation Park. Age specific skills will be taught with ages 5-10 participating in daily sessions from 8 until 11 a.m., while ages 9-12 will go from noon until 3 p.m. Daily prizes and free T-shirts will be given. CSCC TOURNAMENTS
Cleveland State will host a series of summer baseball tournaments at Cleveland State Community College on the following dates: June 25 through 27, 14-under and 13-under — enter by May 28. The 15-under, 16-under and 18-under tournaments will be four games of pool play and a championship game. The cost for the tournaments is $385 and a dozen balls. The 14-under and 13- under tournaments will be three games of pool play and championship game. The cost for this tournament is $300 and a dozen balls. CLEVELAND STATE CAMPS
Cleveland State baseball coach Mike Policastro will conduct the Youth Skills Camp for athletes ages 5-14, May 31 through June 3. The camp hours will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The cost for the camp is $80 which includes a camp T-shirt. The Cleveland State Youth Pitcher/Catcher Camp will run June 14-15 and a Youth Hitting Camp June 16-17, from 9 until 11:30 a.m. each day. Both camps will be for ages 8-16. The Cleveland Lady Raiders will host their annual instruction camp for first through rising eighth graders June 1-4 from 8 until 11:30 a.m. The camp will be under the direction of Lady Raider head coach Rachel Moore and her staff. The camp will emphasize fundamentals with a focus on skills and drills. Ball handling, defensive concepts and shooting instruction will also be covered. The cost for the camp is $50 per camper. BCHS CAMP
The Bradley Central Bears 14th annual basketball camp for ages 6 through 14 will take place June 7-9 from 8:30 a.m. until noon. The cost of the camp is $50 per camper. Coaches Kent Smith, Chuck Clark and Patrick Spangler will hold instruction on basic fundamentals with stations instructed by coaches, players and former players. 7-on-7 SOCCER LEAGUE
A 7-on-7 soccer league for middle and high school age athletes is being formed by Walker Valley soccer coach Tom Bayliss beginning the first week of June and running until June 26 at WVHS. The cost is $300 per team if registered before May 14 and $350 after May 14. The field will be 65 x 35 yards with 50 minute games and a five minute halftime. Soccer camps for K-11th grade will be offered by Cleveland High School beginning in June. Kids Camp A for students completed grades K, 1, or 2 and Kids Camp B for students completed grades 3, 4, and 5 will be held June 7 through 10. Middle School Camp for students completed grades 5, 6, or 7 and High School Camp for students completed Grades 8, 9, 10, and 11 will run June 7 through 11. Al camps will be held at the Stadium Field at the GRCSA soccer complex on Mouse Creek Road. The cost for Kids Camp A and B is $60, $50 for pre-registered athletes. The cost for the middle and high school camps is $75, $65 for pre-registered athletes. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt. FLAMES ‘98 TRYOUTS
The Cleveland Futbol Club/Greater Cleveland Soccer will hold tryouts for the boys U-13 Flames competitive soccer team. Boys must be born after July 31, 1997. The first tryout will be held June 1 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Mouse Creek Soccer Complex, with a second date July 17.
