William T. Bates Jr. announces his bid for the 2nd District School board seat being vacated by Mark Grissom.

A retired educator with over 37 years in education, 33 years in Bradley County, Bates and his wife, Anita, also a retired educator, have served and cherished the students of Bradley County with over 70 years combined teaching experience.

Bradley County has had an excellent school system Bates states.

“Along with numerous successful former students, all three (3) of my sons were educated in Bradley County Schools and I know they received a quality education. One son is a practicing physician, another is in medical school, and a third is a trained ordained minister serving as a youth minister.

“As a society, our greatest asset is our children. Therefore, I want to help the Bradley County School System continue to provide educational opportunities that allow its students to achieve excellence in education, their ambitions, hopes, and dreams.

“I will serve the constituents of the 2nd District to the best of my ability through integrity, and an eager anticipation of seeing all students in Bradley County receive the highest academic training available for the 21st century student. I will deeply appreciate your support in the Aug. 4 election.”
