Parks and Recreation Director Patti Petitt announced Wednesday that Amateur Softball Association tournaments are planned for the weekends of July 31 and Aug. 13. A big youth tournament is scheduled July 9-11.
Petitt said weekends through the summer are filled up at the Cleveland parks.
A big program this year for Parks and Recreation will begin Monday at the Mosby Park Pool, according to Petitt.
Free swim lessons are being offered to kids by a certified Red Cross instructor. Lessons will be available from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, and from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons.
Participants must be accompanied by a parent to sign a release form. Registration forms are available at the pool or at the Northeast Recreation Center.
Swim lessons will continue for three weeks, with plans for three additional weeks in July.
The recreation director said this swim program could be extended to adults or even the senior citizens in the future, if there is a need.
