He was the son of the late Dovie Cross Waters and Cecil Waters Sr. He is also preceded in death by his son, Cecil “Jerry” Waters III; granddaughter, Misty Waters; and his brother, David Lee Waters.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a machine operator at M&M Mars for 18 years.
He enjoyed reading, painting and drawing and was a member of Benton Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Monnie Waters of Old Fort; stepsons: Rufus Green and his wife, Lynn, of Cisco, Ga., Billy Green and his wife, Norma, of Etowah, Jimmy Green and his wife, Sue, of Tennga, Ga., and Eddie Wright and his wife, Heilda, of Greenville, Fla.; granddaughter, Raven Waters of Cleveland; great-grandson, Bryson Nevarro of Meigs County; sisters: Jeanette Baxter of Cleveland, Patricia Norfleet of Cleveland, Jane McCormick of Etowah and Delois Sue Waters of Flagler Beach, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Rev. J.C. Cagle officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Jimmy Green, Billy Green, Harry Mullinax, Tony Price and Johnny Cash serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
