Cleveland Country Club has been a popular destination point for Tennessee Golf Association events over the past 30 years. There have been 17 competitive events at CCC since 1980, but this year will be the first time the club has been host to the Tennessee Women’s Amateur Golf Championship.

The 70th annual tournament begins with practice rounds today, medal-play qualifying beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday, and match-play competition Tuesday through Friday.

Cleveland Country Club has been host to a trio of major womens’ events, beginning with the State Women’s Senior Amateur in 1980. The Women’s Senior Amateur returned to the club in 2006, followed by the TGA Women’s Four-Ball last year (2009).

There have been multiple state events three different years ... in 1984, 1992 and 1994.
