Put another way, we approach our work with enthusiasm — well, most of the time — and we do the same in our leisure. That’s why your Cleveland Daily Banner has started another regular feature ... to recognize you in your work-time and your play-time.
We call it simply, “Cleveland at Work and Play.” As announced last week on the front page of Wednesday’s edition, our newsroom staff will keep their eyes peeled for photo opportunities involving you at work or at play. We’ll ask you if we can take your picture and then get a little information ... simple things like your name and what you’re doing at the time.
It will be operated similarly to our award-winning feature series, “Look Who’s Reading the Banner.”
Certainly, “Cleveland at Work and Play” opportunities should be countless. Our reporters and photographers are already “out there” interacting in the community any way and so are you. In Wednesday’s debut, we photographed a pair of smiling elders representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints preparing to mount their bicycles in white shirts and neckties. This familiar twosome was more than happy to take a minute for our photographer, Associate Editor Lucie Willsie.
We hope you’ll do the same for the rest of our staff as they make their rounds in the community while on assignment or even in their off-time ... when most still pack a camera for one of those “just in case” photographs.
Where might we find you? It would be easier to ask, “where not?”
Do you grocery shop?
Do you enjoy a neighborhood walk with your dog, friends or spouse?
Do you have an outside job?
Do you run errands around town at lunch?
Do you take your little ones to the playground?
Do you enjoy family picnics and leisurely outings?
Do you drive a bus ... do you ride a bus?
Do you enjoy a jog or stroll along the Greenway, a school track or just around the neighborhood?
Regardless of your location, job duties or interests, we hope to find you and to feature your smiling faces in “Cleveland at Work and Play.” And please, don’t be shy! If one of our cameras shows up, give our folks a couple of minutes. Our staff will be quick and courteous because we know you’re busy ... whether at work or play! We’ll snap a quick photo, ask for your name and for some quick information on what you’re doing at that very minute.
This is an interactive joy-ride so it goes both ways. If you have an idea for “Cleveland at Work and Play,” please give us a call in the Cleveland Daily Banner newsroom at 423-472-5041. If you know one of our reporters or photographers individually, please feel free to contact them. We’ll make every effort to follow up on your suggestion if it’s doable.
We can’t wait to get our news staff out there to find you at work or play! And if you find them first, approach them as a volunteer model!
We hope you’ll share in our excitement.
After all, this is in your honor ... the area residents of Cleveland and Bradley County who are making this community a wonderful place in which to live!
