A Cleveland man arrested last week on charges of raping a 16-year-old girl waived his case to the Bradley County Grand Jury without a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Sessions Court.

Kipp Eugene Jenkins, 40, of 154 Woodgate Drive, was arrested June 22.

After waiving the preliminary hearing, a $12,000 bond was set for Jenkins. He was released Tuesday afternoon, according to Bradley County Sheriff’s Office media coordinator Bob Gault.

Court records filed at the Bradley County Judicial Complex indicated the juvenile reportedly told her mother the assault occurred at Jenkins’ residence. The mother then reported the incident to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.

The alleged victim was taken to SkyRidge Medical Center where a forensic examination was conducted. Jenkins was interviewed by detectives with the BCSO Criminal Investigations Division. He is scheduled for a hearing in Sessions Court Aug. 9.

The investigation is continuing.
