He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Old Ocoee Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bunyon McTaggart and Elfrieda Slack McTaggart; and the mother of his children, Betty McTaggart Firestone.
Survivors include his children: Shelia Phillips and husband, Lynn, of Old Fort and Rick McTaggart and wife, Mindy, of Harrison; grandsons: Matthew McTaggart, Michael McTaggart and Reed Phillips; granddaughter, Sage Baliles; sister, Mary Morris and husband, Bo, of Benton and Patricia Davis and husband, Michael, of Cleveland; brothers: Eddie McTaggart and wife, Judy, and Ben McTaggart and wife, Josette, all of Benton; and special friend, Shirley Frazier of Cleveland.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Cheatam and Michael Davis officiating.
Interment will follow in Old Ocoee Cemetery with military honors.
Matthew McTaggart, Michael McTaggart, David Carden, Tim Morris, Jerry Dayley and Scott Wilson will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
