CHATTANOOGA — Thursday proved to be a great day on the links for Cortnee Young and Andrew White as both turned in one of their best performances of the summer Tennessee Golf Association’s Junior Tour.
The Cleveland pair both broke 80 to capture second place finishes in their respective divisions at the Moccasin Bend Golf Course.
Young fired a 5-over-par 77 in the Girls 15-18 Masters division, putting her just three shots behind winner Blakesly Warren’s 2-over 74. Lexi Stewart of Soddy-Daisy’s TSSAA State championship team was two strokes behind Young with a 79.
Meanwhile, White carded a 7-over 79 in the Boys 14-15 Tour classification, also three shots back of Hixson’s Konner Wilkes.
Hunter Carroll of Cleveland tied for third in the same division, firing an 83. McMinnville’s Houston Wood also shot an 11-over to equal Carroll.
Charleston’s Clay Keller earned a fifth place finish in the Boys 16-18 Masters with an 84, while Chase Montgomery of Cleveland shot an 87 in the Boys 14-15 Masters.
In nine-hole competition, McDonald’s Austin Norman carded a 49 and Baylor McGowan of Benton shot a 54 in the Boys 10-13 Tour division.
Up in Knoxville at The Wee Course at Williams Creek, Cleveland’s Gage Brakebill fired a nine-hole 41 for a fourth place finish in the Boys 8-9 Micro class.
