Clyde “Doyle” Brown Sr., 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at his home.

He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he formerly served as a deacon and choir member.

His favorite place to be was at home and his favorite past time was working in his yard and flowers and being with family.

He was known by his close neighbors and friends as “Mayor” of his community as he kept a close watch for more than 55 years.

He was a loving husband for 62 years to his wife “Bobbie.” He was a super father, papaw, and great-papaw who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, even if it was his last one.

He retired from the maintenance department at the Bowater Paper Mill after 37 years of dedicated service.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William Harve and Betty Jane Dixon Brown; son, Daniel “Danny” Steven Brown; brothers: Willard Atlas Brown, James Archie Brown, and Charles Oscar Brown; and sisters: Dovie Evelyn Dolan, Orphia Louise Green, and Marie B. Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Gwinneth Robodean “Bobbie” Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Clyde D. “Butch” and Diana L. Brown Jr. of Cleveland; granddaughters: Jenny Lynn Brown of Tuscaloosa Ala., Emily Meagan Lynch and her husband, Brian, of Cleveland; great-grandson, Hayden Shane Lynch of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Covenant Funeral and Cremation Service of Chattanooga is in charge of the cremation.

To honor his wishes, no services will be planned.
