Robert Lee Casteel, 70, a resident of Cleveland, went home to be with his Lord Wednesday evening, June 30, 2010, in a Chattanooga hospital.
He was born April 20, 1940, in Cleveland. He was a proud grandfather who enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He loved his dogs, especially “Woody.”
He was a charter member of Cornerstone Church in Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Casteel; and his brother, L.R. Hair.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mary Jane Isom Casteel; sons: Ronnie Casteel and his wife, Rachael, and Randy Casteel and his wife, Leslie, all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Meredith Rongey and her husband, Justin, of Cleveland, Ryan Casteel of Casper, Wyo., Cooper Casteel, Brody Casteel, Brooke Edwards, and Brandon Edwards and his wife, Holly; great-grandson, Carter Edwards, all of Cleveland, mother, Hazel Byrd of Mims, Fla.; brothers: Buddy Powell and his wife, Brenda, of Sweetwater, and Richard Thomason of Decatur; mother-in-law, Greathen “Granny” Isom; brother-in-law, Paul Isom and his wife, Cynthia; sister-in-law, Betty Thomason of Decatur; uncle, Tom Casteel of Cleveland; aunt, Emma Casteel; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 8 this evening, July 2, 2010, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Herb Conley and the Rev. Paul Isom officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 until the service time at 8 at the funeral home.
A Remembrance of Life graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Calvin Denney, Brandon Edwards, James Holt, Dennis Howell, Michael Johnson and John Torchick serving as pallbearers and Ryan Casteel and Justin Rongey serving as honorary pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or to Cornerstone Church in Cleveland.
