Happy Fourth of July. The library will be open today from 1 until 5 p.m. and will be closed on July 5 in observance of the holiday. Regular business hours will resume on July 6.

The summer is going by fast. Only one more month is left of the summer reading program. Our 1,000th participant was Jaden Alexander, 3. Congratulations to him and all our summer readers.

It is still not too late to sign up for “Make a Splash: Read!,” the library’s summer reading program. Once you have signed up you will receive a reading log to track all the books you read or listen to depending on your age and once you fulfill the reading requirements for you age group you will be eligible for prizes and the “Grand Finale” party to be held July 30 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Only those readers who complete and return their reading logs are invited to the party and will receive a summer reading program certificate. Don’t waste another day. Stop by the library and sign up today!

There are lots of activities scheduled in the Children’s Department for the month of July. Stop by and sign up for crafts and cooking workshops. All workshops are grouped by ages and registration is required so that we can plan for supplies and materials.

Friends of the Library Association will be the host for the Book and Coffee series on July 16 at 10 a.m. at the Craigmiles-Johnston House History Branch Library. The One Book One Community read, “Autumn Winifred Oliver does things different” by Kristin O’Donnell Tubb will be discussed and reviewed.

All ages are invited to attend this One Book One Community event. There are several copies of the book available at the library. Stop by today to get a copy and support this community event.
