American Constructors project manager Derek Martin provided an update on the construction project to the Bradley County Board of Education Thursday.
Martin said within the last 30 days, site workers have completed the installation of sewer lines and city water lines. Inside the building, crews are laying ceramic tile and have completed the ceiling grids and installed athletic equipment in the gymnasium.
Site workers are installing gas lines and building sidewalks, according to Martin.
Over the next 30 days Martin estimated the completion of gas line installation, sidewalk work and the drilling of the geothermal wells. Crews will also focus on finishing the school’s roadways and parking areas. Interior painting and installing the gym floor are expected to be complete by mid-August. Kitchen equipment is estimated to be installed by the end of July,
“The project is still on track. The dry weather has certainly helped us stay on schedule,” said Martin.
Construction cost for the project is $10 million.
Students attending Park View the first year will begin classes Aug. 9 at the Big City University facilities at North Cleveland Church of God.
Teachers for the new school will have the first opportunity to view their classrooms next week, according to Principal Deb Bailey.
Cason Conn, TriCon Inc., project manager for the Bradley Central High School fine arts facility reported the building permit was received Monday. The state fire marshal approved the architectural drawings July 2.
Conn said site crews are laying concrete and ground footing for the new 600-seat fine arts center.
Sewer installation is expected to be completed within two weeks.
“The next 30 days will be very exciting,” said Conn.
