The Lee University golf team received a real shot in the arm this weekend when team members finished one-two in the 2010 Chattanooga Men’s Metro men’s golf championship at the Creek’s Bend Golf Course.

Lee senior Sam Bedwell eventually won this year’s title, but not before he gave away four strokes on the final three holes of regulation play.

Following the unexpected collapse on the final holes, Bedwell rallied to defeat Lee University teammate Jeremy Lawson in a two-hole playoff. It was Bedwell’s second consecutive Metro title.

Bedwell and Lawson, a Lee junior, finished the 54 holes of the tournament with 7-under-par totals of 203.

Josh Bain, Cornelius Hunter, Chase Deck and Brandon Cissom finished one stroke behind the playoff twosome with 6-under-par 204 scores.

Bedwell won the title on the second hole of the playoff, two-putting for a par and the victory. Lawson’s approach to the green was on the opposite side from the pin and he couldn’t get his chip up and down.
