“Mr. Pascal has served as a substitute teacher in the past for us and we’re just really excited to have him come aboard this year,” said Sammie Humphreys, assistant to the director of Bradley County Schools.
Pascal will teach eighth-grade science at Lake Forest Middle School.
“I’m just thrilled to death,” Pascal said Tuesday. “Ritchie Stevenson (LFMS principal) offered me the position about a month ago. I began substituting during the spring to get an idea of what it would be like and I’m just very excited about the opportunity.”
Pascal received his bachelor of science degree in meteorology from Texas A&M University in 1977. He is currently in the process of obtaining a master’s of arts in teaching degree from Lee University.
“It’s very interesting after spending so many years going in the classrooms and talking to kids,” he said. “With teaching, I will now have a chance to talk to them about science in a much broader sense. I’ve always looked for ways to reach kids at the middle school level and help them become more interested in school and science and how it can help them in their daily lives, education and future career. I’m looking forward to learning from them too.”
Pascal said he plans to continue serving Channel 3 News as a meteorologist until the fall. He has more than 25 years of experience forecasting weather as a chief meteorologist in Chattanooga.
