Connie Norene Yates, 53, of Chattanooga and a former resident of Polk County, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in a Chattanooga hospital. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Blanche C. Moates Yates.

Survivors include her daughters: Dava Marlene Martin of Athens and Maranda Jo Nelms of Chattanooga; four grandchildren; sisters: Marlene Moats and Cindy Moats; brothers: Larry Moats and Gary Moats; mother-in-law, Ruth Seay; and the special people who raised her from a young child, G. W. Moats and Barbara Moats.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. David Bowers and the Rev. Gary Moats officiating.

Interment will follow in Chestuee Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
