Two-vehicle APD-40 car crash details released
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office has released additional details pertaining to the July 10 car crash that killed one man and left another hospitalized.
The two-vehicle crash occurred shortly after midnight along APD-40 near the Overhead Bridge Road exit.
According to a partially-completed traffic accident investigation report from the sheriff’s office, Tiffany Levi Isaza, 29, was driving north in the southbound lane of APD-40 when she struck Dustin N. Ledford, 24, head-on.
Ledford was taken to SkyRidge Medical Center where he died a short time later as a result of his injuries.
Isaza was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center. As of press time today, Erlanger Medical officials confirmed Isaza remains hospitalized.
Toxicology reports on both Isaza and Ledford are pending, according to Bob Gault, media coordinator for the sheriff’s office.
The investigation into the crash is still on-going.
Prior to the accident, Cleveland City Police responded to Isaza’s residence and arrested her boyfriend, Joshua Burgner, 29, on charges of domestic violence. Police reportedly responded to Isaza’s apartment after 911 dispatcher’s received a “hang-up” call from her residence. When officers arrived on the scene, Isaza told officers she and Burgner had been arguing. Burgner’s arrest report indicated the arresting officer observed Isaza’s left eye to be bruised and swollen and her bottom lip was bloody and swollen.
After the car accident, sheriff’s deputies went to Isaza’s residence to notify family members of the accident. Police reports indicated after several attempts to make contact with someone inside the residence went unanswered, deputies entered the apartment which was un-secure. Inside the apartment, deputies found Isaza’s two young children asleep.
Deputies were able to locate Isaza’s mother to take custody of the children.
The investigation is continuing into the incident.
