CSA to distribute commodities Thursday

The Bradley-Cleveland Community Service Agency announces commodities will be available for distribution in Bradley County on Thursday.

Eligible households may pick up their commodity allocations from 9 a.m. to noon or until supplies are gone, at the Bradley-Cleveland Community Services Agency located at 155 6th St. S.E.

Clients will be seen according to the appointment listed on the back of their green card issued during the last distribution.

People who want their commodities picked up for them must send their authorized representative. If this person is not available, a note must be sent authorizing the individual to pick up their commodities. The person picking up the commodities must bring the recipient’s eligibility documentation.

People who do not already have commodity cards may come in after 1 p.m. and pick up any remaining commodities.

They must bring the necessary information to prove eligibility:

1. Food Stamp — Letter of approval, ID card, Insert card that comes from stamps.

2. Families First — Letter of approval, Check Stub, Families First ID card.

3. SSI — Letter of approval, Letter from Social Security.

4. Low-Income Households — Income Information.

5. Public Housing — Address ID.

Each eligible household will receive a pre-determined amount of each commodity as long as they last. Recipients are urged to bring two grocery bags with them. The misrepresentation of need, or sale or exchanges of USDA Commodities are prohibited and could result in a fine, imprisonment or both.

Households eligible to receive commodities are:

1. Food stamp recipients,

2. Families First (former AFDC program) recipients,

3. SSI (Supplemental Security Income) recipients,

4. Income not exceeding the poverty guidelines,

5. Public housing and

6. LIEAP (Low Income Energy Assistance Program) recipients.
