Volkswagen has announced Wingard Quality Supply, LLC, has been awarded the contract for tire and wheel assembly for Volkswagen Supplier Park located in Chattanooga.

Wingard will locate its operations in the Volkswagen Supplier Park, located at the factory site.

Wingard, which is expected to hire up to 25 employees, is currently working with a local staffing agency. The company will hire locally.

A certified minority-owned automobile parts manufacturing supplier for seven years, Wingard also will relocate its headquarters to Chattanooga. Wingard had been headquartered in Fremont, Calif., with a second plant in Lafayette, La.

“We are very pleased and honored to be selected by Volkswagen as one of their suppliers in Chattanooga,” said Jesse Wingard, president of WQS. “Since its inception, Wingard has focused on being a responsible corporate citizen and a contributing member of the local community. We are committed to continuing this tradition with Volkswagen in Chattanooga, and to our core values of safety, service, respect and quality in every aspect of our operations.”

Wingard will service the NMS car, which has been produced as a prototype and is currently being tested in Germany. The NMS is set to begin production at the Chattanooga plant in the first quarter of 2011. Sales are scheduled for fall 2012.
