McTaggart given Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation Scholarship

NASHVILLE, — The Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation is pleased to announce Matthew McTaggart is the winner of the $1,800 Quaker Oats Co. Scholarship.

McTaggart, a graduate from Walker Valley High School, plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering at Tennessee Technological University.

He is an employee of Cooke’s Food Stores.

McTaggart has been a four- year recipient of the Tennessee Scholars and Circle of Champions Awards for community service. He is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honors Society, Beta Club and Future Business Leaders of America.

This year TGEF is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Since its inception, the foundation has surpassed $2.6 millionin giving. This year, TGEF awarded 146 scholarships worth $171,000. Graduating high school seniors and college students who are employed by a Tennessee Grocers and Convenience Store Association member or are children of employees of a TGCSA member are eligible for scholarships.
