Cleveland detectives are working to determine the identity of a woman who somehow obtained a check from a local business and cashed it at a local bank.

According to a report filed by officer Scott Criddle of the Cleveland Police Department, Brandon Locke had mailed the check from his business to the Tennessee Department of Safety.

“It was somehow stolen prior to making it to its destination,” said Criddle in his report.

Criminal Investigations Division detective Brian Smith has been working on the case.

According to Smith, a black female reportedly cashed the check at the Bank of Cleveland.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance cashing the check, according to Smith.

Smith also noted the payee’s name on the check was changed to “Luchico Keeley.”

Anyone having information regarding the identity of the suspect is urged to contact Smith at 593-9098.

n Cleveland Fire Department rushed to the scene of a suspected lightning strike during a heavy thunderstorm Saturday.

According to 911 reports, the firefighters found the roof of a home on Stafford Avenue had been struck.

When firefighters arrived, they noticed smoke coming from the roof.

Two small fires were found and quickly extinguished, according to reports.

The incident was logged at 911 at 3:52 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

n Tennessee Highway Patrol will be holding Drivers License Roadside Safety Checkpoints beginning Aug. 22.

THP will be performing the checks in Polk County.

According to the announcement, troopers will concentrate on vehicles operated by drivers who would violate the drivers license laws of Tennessee and the checkpoints are an effective means of enforcing the laws while ensuring the protection of all motorists.

All checkpoints are contingent upon manpower availability and weather conditions.
