He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Beatrice Thomas.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Payne Thomas of Georgetown; sons: Chris Thomas of Cleveland and Mike Thomas of Georgetown; stepson, Scott Thomas of Cleveland; brothers: Roger Thomas of The Netherlands, Robert Thomas of Elizabethton and Raymond Thomas of Roane Mountain; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Kirby and the Rev. Earl Farris officiating.
Interment will follow in Cofer Cemetery with Dennis Cole, Daniel Cole, Jimmy Taylor, James Burdin, Andrew Pippenger and David (Slim) serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
