Members enjoyed a salad supper prior to conducting business. President Fleeta Millard led the Opening Ritual.
Recording Secretary Linda Wheeler read the July minutes;
Wheeler distributed the 2010-2011 yearbook sign-up sheets. She stressed yearbook changes be submitted now because the yearbook would be printed soon and presented at the September meeting.
Millard reminded members that the bylaws require deadlines for the chapter Ways and Means fee and City Council dues.
A card from Treasurer Annie Laura Breaux was read, thanking members for theirs cards, calls, visits, and concerns during her ongoing physical difficulties.
Millard requested members review and update the budget and bylaws to reflect financial responsibilities and attentiveness and care for members.
Wheeler made a motion to change parts of the budget with Brenda Chambers seconding the motion, which was approved by the members.
Cathy Norwood distributed to each member a 2009-10 Memory DVD and presented to Millard the Memory Book full of pictures, articles, programs and mementos depicting the many activities of the past sorority year.
A copy of the DVD and Memory Book will be submitted for City Council judging purposes in September.
Members praised Norwood for her creative dedication to keeping a pictorial record of the chapter activities.
Kay Martin will continue to update all members concerning their new secret sisters’ personal information.
She reminded everyone of two upcoming birthdays: Sue Ogle and Wheeler in September.
Three members will be celebrating anniversaries: Vicki Beaty in August, Norwood in August and Judy Johnson in September.
Verdonna Mikel presented information concerning Beginning Day, hosted by City Council at the First Presbyterian Church, on Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. Seven members plan to attend the Beginning Day activities.
Other members who plan to attend Beginning Day should contact Mikel to make reservations.
The September meeting will be at the home of Breaux with Judy Johnson presenting the program.
Norwood presented a pictorial program reflecting back on all the activities and accomplishments of the chapter for the past 12 months.
Having no further business, Millard led the chapter in the closing ritual.
