Marie Ensley Blankenship, 84, a resident of Old Fort, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 25, 2010, at her home.

She was the daughter of the late Newt Ensley and Ida Chastain Ensley. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.V. Blankenship; grandson, Brian Dills; brothers: Will Ensley, Clyde Ensley, Clint Ensley, J.N. Ensley, Woodrow Ensley, Bud Ensley, Sam Ensley and his wife, Beulah, Harlan Ensley and his wife, Ellen; and sisters: Nellie Stone and her husband, Frank, Grace Meece and her husband, Henry, and Martha Stephenson and her husband, Frank.

She was a member of Hampton Drive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Louise Dills and her husband, Steve, of Old Fort; granddaughter, Brandi Bowman and her husband, Shane, of Old Fort; her very special 4-year-old little boy, Colton Davenport; sisters-in-law: Winnie Ensley of Cleveland, Helen Ensley of Charleston and Katherine Ensley of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Johnny Townsend, Sammy Blankenship and Earnest Ensley officiating.

Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Kenny Green, Ralph Ensley, James Townsend, Scottie Allman, Stacy Frazier and Stacy Mashburn serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
